Training with Contact Kinetics

Contact Kinetics is focussed on training, and provides a number of opportunities to CK Gym members. Whether those opportunites are extra classes to prepare for specific competition, Seminars with outside Instructors, Self-defence classes for women, or small group training outside of the gym, Contact Kinetics Instructors want our members to excel!

  Fun!

Why start with Fun? Well, simply put, if you aren't enjoying your activity at some mental and emotional level, then you're in the wrong place.

Now, that isn't to say that training is supposed to be a Comedy Central laugh fest, but rather that a little muscular pain, and the odd scrape are little enough to exchange for a positive working environment, and folk with a slightly odd sense of humour. ;^P

No one can exist in a vacuum, and any martial arts group that thinks they have all the answers, has obviously not heard all the questions. To grow as Instructors, members and individuals, CK either hosts guest instructors, or we go on the road to attend seminars, open training or special events at home and abroad.

When we identify those instructors who can move the group forward in any of the martial disciplines, we make the effort to learn from them, and so keep the knowledge flowing into CK fresh and relevant.

Chris happy to spend time with Matt Thornton again. Members of CK have attended his annual seminar in Singapore for the last three years in increasing numbers. Aside from teaching how to learn, Matt often has a strong philosphical message.

  Commitment

Commitment by both student and Instructor needs to be high. The training isn't easy, and tremendous demands are placed on those individuals who want to go further with their training, and compete at various levels.

We as Instructors are deeply committed to those who spill their sweat, blood and occasionally tears on our mats. Each of the Instructors is still active in competition, and we know first hand how important a positive support structure can be to a competitor.
